I created the jacket and 4 chapter illustrations for this lovely and lyrical book about a woman’s close relationship with her Lilac Burmese cat, Suki.
Suki herself has a clear narrative voice in the text and a distinct personality. I particularly loved the descriptions of how the cat would often curl up and sleep in her favourite spot – the open top drawer of the author’s writing desk – and how she would hide herself amongst the tulips in the garden.
I entered this cover into the first ABCD (Academy of British Cover Design) awards this year. So, fingers crossed!
